Nova Sct 2018 was discovered by Yukio Sakurai (Mito, Japan) on June 29.577 with Nikon D7100 digital camera + 180-mm f/2.8 lens.

ATel #11802 describes the Nova as a Galactic classical Fe II-type nova.
​
At declination -14d 30m the field lies in the orange light glow of Birmingham, and is difficult to observe visually when below mag 14.5. The V-band images have been aquired with the Open University COAST telescope.
