The UGWZ star IK Leo was detected to be in outburst on 2024 Feb 21.957 by ASAS-SN at magnitude 13.011g. This was the first recorded outburst since October 2006. One minor rebrightening was recorded before the last positive observation was made on March 26 - the outburst lasting around 28 days.

The outburst was monitored visually with the 51cm from Birmingham, and using the Slooh and COAST remote telescopes in Tenerife and Chile.
