AY Lac was detected in outburst by ASAS-SN on Oct 08.283 at 13.83g. Only two previous outbursts have been recorded, 1927 & 1966.

Superhumps have been detected by Tonny Vanmunster quite late into the outburst - amplitude 0.29 and period 0.059d - suggesting AY Lac is probably a UGWZ star.

In the above light curve, unfiltered CCD observations were obtained using COAST, and filtered by AAVSOnet BSM.
